AFA Auctions At a Glance

Montage-02sIn February 1998, the Forum initiated charity fundraising activities via a "Gala Ball" at the Peninsula hotel. Guests included HKSAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa and dozens of senior aerospace executives en route to Asian Aerospace in Singapore. Charity fundraising initiatives have raised in excess of US$200,000 in 2000/2001. Generous aerospace memorabilia and flight experiences have been donated by Boeing, BAE SYSTEMS, Airbus, Rolls Royce, GE, Embraer, Saab, Shorts, Gulfstream and Virgin Atlantic. Auctions have been organised at the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, the eyeBALL, and on the Internet courtesy of yahoo.asia. Receptions promoting the Aerospace Auction were also held during the Farnborough and Paris Air Shows.

AFA Spotlight

  • Aerospace Forum Asia (AFA) is a regional non-profit association of industry professionals dedicated to advancing appreciation of the overwhelmingly positive societal role of civil aerospace.
  • Established in 1986 in Hong Kong as an informal meeting group, AFA today plays a unique role around Asia as a multipurpose rallying point. Membership is by invitation and provides high level business insights and access, together with value adding advocacy activities.
  • The Forum has since 1998, raised over US$350,000 for aviation related charities – particularly ORBIS, the flying eye hospital, via its innovative Aerospace Auction, and charity initiatives.
